I am in the process of verifying information I have in my family tree (among which is ancestors up to Badie and Branconje) and I appreciate the facts you've been able to verify. I have simple facts, of course, and multitudes of my ancestors are recorded in the records of the Old Dutch Church in Sleepy Hollow and elsewhere, but your research has made it easy for me to document the Brouwer history accurately. Thank you from the depths of my heart, which is firmly rooted in my beloved Sleepy Hollow. Best, Robin Lovatt Apostolik. If you are a direct male descendant of Josias Dratz/Drake you may want to join the DRAKE surname project at FTDNA and take a Y-DNA test (https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/drake/about). Joseph Driggs of Connecticut was not a son or descendant of Josias Dratz. See the post of June 3, 2012, "Joseph Driggs is Not Josias Drake, Jr." (https://brouwergenealogy.blogspot.com/2012/06/joseph-driggs-is-not-josias-drake-jr.html).Chris Chesterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15357968881533223410noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6068447077581264936.post-13771578988571855272022-05-23T06:58:04.741-04:002022-05-23T06:58:04.741-04:00The Brewer DNA Project is a Y-DNA Project. Since you are a descendant of Adam Brouwer's daughter Aeltje, you are not a direct male descendant of Adam Brouwer and so the Brewer DNA Project would not be of help to you. If you are a direct male descendant of Joseph Driggs, then you may wish to take a Y-DNA test with Family Tree DNA (FTDNA) and see if you have matches to others with the surname DRIGGS who have also tested with FTDNA. The Huguenots were from the southern and western parts of France. Harry Macy, Jr. in "Some New Light on Aeltje Braconie and Maria Badie," New York Genealogical and Biographical Record Vol. 142, pp. 21-36 (2011)suggests that Magdalena's mother, Maria Badie, and her mother, Aeltje Braconie were from Liege which now is in Belgium. I think the best guess is that Magdalena and her immediate ancestors were Walloons, who were a group native to Belgium who spoke French and Walloon (which is related to French).Chris Chesterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15357968881533223410noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6068447077581264936.post-5493894164544548392019-06-23T09:48:30.295-04:002019-06-23T09:48:30.295-04:00Adam Brouwer and Magdalena Verdon were my eighth g...Adam Brouwer and Magdalena Verdon were my eighth great grandparents. I am very interested in knowing if Magdalena was a Huguenot. If you have any information regarding this could you please let me know?
